LJ Drama (Does it bear reiteration here?...)
At the time of this writing, LiveJournal has written an apology that can be viewed on the front page. I am not addressing the issues at hand here tonight. I'm sure everybody here knows how I feel about censorship (and no, I don't care if it was 'accidental').

What I am addressing here is this: if you've been researching some of the drama, you will probably want to run an adware and virus scan. The Warriors For Innocence site is utterly infested with adware. So far, no virii, but your mileage may vary.

The whole thing with LiveJournal deleting journals based on interests at the pressure of a conservative Christian group? That's what I'm talking about. The front page of LJ has ... some of the details. If you need more, check Fickle_Goddess on my friends page: she has a public post with links to good information on it. Less... spinned information.

Meh, no viruses, but plenty of spyware, mostly tracking cookies. Caught 413 of the things through AVG. Yechh.

Warriors for...what?

I still maintain that LJ SHOULD be deleting some journals. There are some seriously sick fucks on LJ :P

Yes, because it's a good idea for a group to walk in and start deciding to enforce their ideas of morality. When this happens, then LJ isn't the community it once was, but a mouthpiece for whomever is writing the policy.

whoa, that's a hell of a thing to say. let's break it down!

1) yeah, LJ has been a bunch of cocksuckers this time

2) i didn't realise they were being directed by an external force, other than the threat of lawsuit that brought it to their attention

3) my statement was removed from the motivations at hand, and has nothing to do with someone's 'morality'. There are some out and admitted child molesters writing kiddieporn fanfic and shit here, and that's just wrong.

No need to jump on me for voicing an opinion, sir! It could be construed as ::shifty eyes:: hypocrisy.

Alex, the group in question, from everything I've read, wanted LJ to enforce the Terms of Service that we all agreed to when we got our journals. The Terms of Service that YOU agreed to. whether you can call it censorship or not, doesn't matter. Alex, you agreed to it as readily as everyone else.
