Okay, so.... I got the job at the base I'd been applying and testing for since February. I get regular raises. I get benefits. I get fringe benefits, such as free gym, pool, discounts on a bunch of stuff.... I qualify for a Navy Federal account, which I'm told has good rates for stuff. Such as a credit card to counter the fact that the bank that did my car loan did not give me credit for being a good little debt-slave. I suppose more immediately important is that I'm making over twice what I was before. Too bad I have to get up at 6 to get to work on time. =P

Nope. About an hour after I came home, Pepper pissed on the blanked and sheets. Put the cats out. Fortunately bought a mattress protector that fully absorbed the liquid, so the mattress was saved. Doing laundry now. I want sleep. ;-;

I don't know what it is about my bed, but I've had to wash sheets and the mattress every day since the cats god here because Salt doesn't piss anywhere else, even if I take her out and wait for around an hour. So ridiculous.

Moved our kitties over to my house today. They're living in my room. I missed them very much. Ashley is relieved to have them somewhere safe. Considering buying a laptop for school/whatever purposes. If I get one, will probably join the huge crowd on World of Warcraft. I question the wisdom of this move, since I have such a course-load, however.

I've been on a long journey. I lived with my loving girlfriend, Ashley, for about a year. We didn't really have access to the internet for a long time. She showed me that I could get the government to pay for my school without using the military, so I'm doing that now. Work sucks, money sucks, but there are things to look forward to. I have returned. I have also been snubbed. I probably won't ever know why, but went ahead and deleted the people involved. I strongly doubt any of the aforementioned people will ever know.

I also doubt that I'll post regularly, but it happens.

Air Force Charges Victim in Her Own Rape

This news item made my stomach turn: Cassandra Hernandez, a female Air Force airman was raped, reported her attack and then subsequently became a court-martial defendant, herself.
The story goes down like this: Hernandez was at a party, where she was drinking. She says that three male airman raped her. She went to the hospital and filed a report accusing her attackers. Due to stress and harsh interrogation tactics by the Air Force, she eventually refused to testify against the airmen.
The Air Force then charged her with underage drinking (of which she admits to being guilty, but that's hardly the point, now is it?) and, along with her three attackers,"indecent acts." I had a hell of a lot of trouble finding an official definition for "indecent acts," and the best one I came up with is a "form of immorality relating to sexual impurity which is not only grossly vulgar, obscene, and repugnant to common propriety, but tends to excite lust and deprave the morals with respect to sexual relations." Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the basic translation seems to be "a sexual act, particularly one that is not generally accepted in society, such as sex with multiple partners."
So. The woman was raped. By three men. She reported her rape. She was harassed by her superiors, to the point where she became too afraid to testify. The Air Force took this as meaning that the sex was therefore consensual (which isn't what it means at all), and charged her in the case of her own rape. If she loses her case, she could be publicly registered as a sex offender.
Sounds like it couldn't get any worse, right? But it does. How? The three alleged attackers were offered sexual assault immunity to testify against Hernandez on the indecent acts charge. Having at least half a brain cell among them, they accepted.
Hernandez is writing to her congresspeople and her Governor, Rick Perry, in a desperate plea to end this madness. Once you finish throwing up, crying, breaking things, etc., I strongly suggest that you write, too.
IMPORTANT CORRECTION: Apparently, the correct action to take is to write directly to YOUR congresspersons. You can find the information to write to your Representative here, and the information to write to your Senators here. It is a good idea to include one of the links to articles about thecase, so that they know specifically what you are referring to.

So... at fencing last night, the coach asked me if I'd be continuing to fence. Of course, I answered. It's great fun for me. To which he replied: "Good. I have plans for you."

What I am addressing here is this: if you've been researching some of the drama, you will probably want to run an adware and virus scan. The Warriors For Innocence site is utterly infested with adware. So far, no virii, but your mileage may vary.

I've been going to a fencing class for about two months. Tonight, we had a class tournament. Typically, fencing tournaments don't mix sexes, so I can't speak for what my outcome would've been against the women too... But I came out on top of the rest of the class. Hee hee.

It's a little weird, since I hardly have any time at all for practicing anything. Drills or whatever... but there we have it. The closest match, which was with the guy taking second place among the men scored three touches on me.... The matches were to ten. All my other opponents scored two. So, there's no question about luck or skill.

Heh. I wonder if there's a way to make a living by fencing. =P

Well, I've never had a holiday-induced dream/sequence of... So I'll assume this means something as my precognitive dreams have been returning to me lately.

I had a dream, and it seemed like all my ex-girlfriends showed up, except for one. It's kind of weird... wasn't unpleasant, and I don't remember what happened, but there we have it. Consult the oracle of dream interpretation! I shall of course, first consult the spam.... but the oracle too!

Okay, so Will did his calling around thing, and got us a beginner's class at... apparently a highly nationally ranked school. I'll have to change my days off to Wednesday, but that's okay. John, you're more than welcome to come, Will offered to cover for your equipment/payments if you can't do it immediately. Ken is too, but he won't log on to see this message for months. =P This should be good.
